How To Open WAV Files
DESCRIPTION: A WAV file is a Wave Form Audio file format used in Windows operating systems
A WAV file extension is associated with the Wave Form Audio File Format, a container file type developed by Microsoft. It is the default audio file type in Windows operating systems. WAV files have the ability to store audio data at different sampling and bit rates, but typical storage is 44.1 kHz and 16-bit stereo, the standard used by CDs. WAV files use variable compression, and can occupy anywhere from 644 kB to 27 MB of storage space depending on the type of sound, the number of bits used, and the sampling rage. These files are similar in format and content to AIF files, but are Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF)-based as opposed to the Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF) used by AIF files. WAV files can be played on Windows Media Player as well as some other audio players.
