How To Open PNG Files
DESCRIPTION: A PNG file is used for saving and viewing high-quality images, often for websites.
A PNG file, or Portable Network Graphic format, was originally created as a way of replacing a GIF file with a format that is not limited by copyrights. Today it is similar to the GIF format, though it cannot be animated the way a GIF image can. PNG is a lossless data compression and bitmapped image format. It is supported by all the popular operating systems, such as Windows, Mac OS, and Linux and can be opened, viewed and edited by a multitude of software programs and applications. This image format is extremely popular with web designers as it supports palette-based images (with 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA colors), grayscale image, and full-color non-palette-based RGB images. PNG files do not support non-RGB colors, such as CMYK color.
