How To Open PICT Files

DESCRIPTION:

The PICT file extension is otherwise known simply as a Picture File. It was developed by Apple to support the interchange between Mac applications of bitmapped and vector graphics along with some text data associated with the graphics. A PICT file can save graphics that use thousands of different colors and these files support run-length encoding (RLE), RGB files, indexed-color, grayscale, and bitmap files, and JPEG compression. PICT is used for screen display and page-layout applications and often uses the PCT file extension when operating on a Windows platform. The original version of this file was created as the native graphics format for Apple’s QuickDraw software. PICT can now be opened using a number of different programs and applications on both Mac OS and Windows operating systems.
