How To Open ORF Files

DESCRIPTION:

An ORF file (Olympus RAW File) is, in effect, to Olympus digital cameras what negatives are to cameras that use film. Because they are not yet processed, you may encounter a problem opening an ORF file in a program meant for printing or editing images. They must first be converted to a TIFF (Tagged Image File Format), or a JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) file before one can print or manipulate these images. Additionally, a ORF file may contain other text information about the image, or about the settings of the camera when the picture was taken. Digital cameras come coupled with a sensor, or CCD, that captures images; an ORF file is used to save the image exactly as it is captured by this sensor.
