How To Open MP4 Files
DESCRIPTION: A MP4 file compresses audio and video files together for sharing on the internet; developed by Moving Picture Experts Group in 1998.
The MP4 file format, also known as MPEG-4, compresses audio and video tracks separately onto the same file in a way that makes these files convenient for sharing videos online or through a download. The audio is compressed using a lossy compression format called AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) and on its own is called a M4A file. The video is compressed with M-PEG video encoding, which may also carry Apple’s DRM copyright protection. These files on their own are are called MPV files. MP4 is an International Standards Organization (ISO) specification agreed upon by the Moving Picture Experts Group as an effective way of compressing, authoring, and sharing multimedia data. MP4 works with many of the most popular media players, such as iTunes and Windows Media Player, as well as on devices like Microsoft’s Zune, iPod, iPad, and iPhone.
