How To Open GIFF Files

DESCRIPTION:

A GIF file extension is a bitmap graphics file associated with the Graphics Interchange File Format (GIFF), originally developed by CompuServe in the 1980s. A GIF file supports 256 indexed color levels, predefined or changed to fit the colors in the image, all in lossless format, so that the clarity of the image is maintained upon decompression of the file. GIF files are commonly used in web graphics, and are preferential where small images such as icons and buttons with inserted text are required. These types of files do not have the seemingly limitless amount of colors available in JPEG images, which are better for photos. GIF files can also be animated and saved to display simple animation files. Files of this type also include an alpha channel, or transparency.
