A CRW file is a file extension or format written in CIFF (Camera image file format). Produced in December 1997 by Cannon, this file format is easy to use and it supported by many digital editing programs specifically Canon digital software. CRW is a raw file, which means that it contains pure data that has not been developed yet for printing. A raw file could be compared to a negative for a roll of film from a camera before it is actually made into a printed image. The CRW format is a way to store the raw data until it is ready to be transformed into a visual image. The stored information is in pixel form and is thought to be the closest to the actual image as any format can achieve.
