How To Open CONFIG Files

CONFIG files are used by various computer programs and utilities for running applications. Because these files are created in a simple text, line-oriented format, they are easy for anyone to develop and modify. Users will want to be sure they know what they are editing before attempting to alter these files, especially if a user is having a problem opening the CONFIG file. Some applications will provide tools to assist the user in modifying CONFIG files. If done properly these edits will help a user customize the application he or she is using, or restore a program’s default settings by removing any modified information in the CONFIG file. If a program does not provide tools for creating and editing configuration files, you can do so with any text editing application.
