How To Open BW Files

DESCRIPTION:

A BW file extension is an image file type stored in bitmap format, originally developed for use with Silicon Graphics International imaging machines. A BW file can be stored in compressed or uncompressed formats, and has the capability of being supported in both RGB color or black and white. In addition to image data, a BW file may also contain metadata in the form of ASCII text and images. As such, files of this type can be opened in texting editing programs in addition to most common image-editing software programs. BW files can be opened using programs such as Image Viewer for Windows and Preview for Mac operating systems, but can also be opened by other programs and converted to common image file types such as TIFF and JPEG for editing and redistribution.
